Advancing Healthcare Standards

In The Caribbean

Triune Health Holdings was established to improve and address the urgent healthcare crises and gaps in Jamaica and the CARICOM region. The inequitable access to healthcare, cancer treatment, and the lack of timely access to both elective and urgent surgical care/intervention present unacceptable health challenges. By collaborating with local medical experts and partners, Triune seeks to provide and facilitate exceptional health care for each patient through state-of-the-art equipment and technology and innovative approaches to clinical care and patient services.

Our Mission

Providing exceptional health care for each patient through innovative approaches to clinical care and patient services.

Our Vision

We will transform the health of Caribbean communities through superior systems of care that create a holistic healing experience for the individuals we serve.

Core Values

The values of healing, integrity, excellence, professionalism, respect, community, and innovation serve as guiding principles that inspire and motivate all we do.

Our Assessment On Urgent Healthcare Needs

The need for improving quality healthcare access for

Cancer

There is an urgency to address cancer treatment. The Caribbean region reports the highest mortality rate of prostate cancer worldwide. Of note, Jamaica has the highest incidence rate of prostate cancer in the world (Morrison et al., 2014).

In addition, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and colorectal cancer are the top 3 cancers in Jamaica with high incidence and mortality rates, with prostate cancer leading in both incidence and mortality rates (World Health Organization, 2020; Jamaica Cancer Society).
In 2022, there were 7500 known diagnosed cancer cases and 4632 deaths from cancer-related morbidities (Jamaica Cancer Society).
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recommends 1 Radiation/Oncology (RAD/ONC) facility (machine) per 250,000 persons (Balogun et al., 2017). Currently, however, there are only 2 main RAD/ONC facilities in Jamaica to serve a 2.9 million population. This results in patients traveling to the US (predominantly Miami, Florida) for treatment. However, this option is not available for many patients due to prohibitive costs, visa requirements, and leave of absence from employment. This inadequate access and maldistribution of facilities within the country lead to treatment delays and ultimately untimely deaths.

The need for improving quality healthcare access for

Surgeries

The government and public hospitals are currently overwhelmed, understaffed, and not able to meet the demands of elective and even urgent surgeries, including oncology-related procedures, often with excessive wait times of weeks, months, and even years, in many circumstances.

The surgical subspecialties most affected are orthopedics, otorhinolaryngology (ENT), general surgery, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, pediatrics, restorative and reconstructive plastics, and urology.
The aggressive cancer-related morbidities and mortalities plus the delayed access to surgical intervention for elective and urgent cases further demonstrate the need for a RAD/ONC facility with an Ambulatory Surgical Centre (ASC) which Triune will establish to address and remedy these healthcare challenges.
